Housing and Dorms at Hope
Dorms-
At Hope College, there are 11 residence halls that you may choose to live in. These houses are Cook Hall, Dykstra Hall, Gilmore Hall, Derfee Hall, Kollen Hall, Lichty Hall, Phelps Hall, Scott Hall, Van Vleck Hall, Voorhees Hall, and Wyckoff Hall. Each residence hall has a different lay-out and will allow different types of people. For example, Cook Hall is a coed dorm, used mostly for upper classmen. Each dorm shares a bathroom with one other room and has three beds. But, Dykstra Hall is used only for freshman, females and is set up in clusters. There is one community bathroom and each room has two beds. Each residence hall, however has an exercise room, laundry room, computer lab, study area, lounges and available internet and cable in every room.
On Campus Living-
At Hope College, all students live on-campus for three years. Hope understands the need for independence in preparation for life after graduation and has created living opportunities in cottages and downtown apartments, as well as allowing senior students to live off -campus. Students who are part-time status may request on-campus housing. All degree-seeking students at Hope College will live in college-owned housing unless granted annual permission to live off -campus or to commute daily from their parent’s home.
Roommates-
Hope makes every effort to work with friends who want to be roommates. Please note: They only honor requests that are stated on both Housing Cards. The Housing Office must receive both Housing Cards by June 8. After that time, Hope College is unable to guarantee that you will be housed together or in communities that match your preferences.
